Golf Carts: The next new form of transportation? |
Golf Carts
As we all know by now, oil prices have gotten high enough that many people are looking for alternate forms of automobile transportation. One interesting trend in small Midwestern towns is the increase in golf carts. In a great deal of towns across the nation, legislation has been passed to allow golf carts to be driven on the road.
While electric cars may be the future, their high price tag, and scarcity has caused many people to turn elsewhere. Golf Carts are very common these days, and are a very cheap electric car perfect for driving short distances. Although they are open vehicles and can only go 25 miles per hour, they have attracted many people with their electric motors which run at about $0.02 per mile. Car mechanics in these towns have seen business go down with more reliable cars and longer warranties and have begun getting auto shipping companies to send in golf carts to sell. People have responded well to this, as having a few small golf carts on a lot in a small town, is less intimidating than trying to sell a lot of used cars.
The best part is that these carts are very inexpensive. For the most part they can be bought for under $3,000, vastly different from the cheapest of cars which are in the $10,000+ range when all is said and done. Combined with this low price, electricity is far cheaper than gas at around $0.02 a mile rather than about $0.25.

Don't Forget About The Golf Driving Range |
Golf Courses
Recreational golfers are keen on improving their golf scores, but they often save all of their practicing for when they're on the actual golf course, which isn't always the best place to hone your golf skills. People often forget that driving ranges are more than just a big yard with a giant net where you can whack the snot out of golf balls. Golf driving ranges are actually a practical venue for improving your golf shots, because it allows you to work on your skills by taking the same shots over and over.
Don't underestimate the value of hitting 100 golf balls. If you consider that the average golfer is going to hit a hundred times on a full-size golf course anyhow (even though many of those are putts), you're going to still gain the benefit of the exercise, and you will be able to identify weaknesses in your golf swing and take immediate action by correcting those actions.
Driving ranges are relatively inexpensive and are a great excuse to get out and work on your golf swing. You don't need to make a big time commitment, as you can generally hit a bucket of balls in under an hour, and you usually don't need to make reservations or plan your golf practice time in advance--driving ranges will usually have plenty of available spots, or the wait will be short as other golfers finish their swings.
